This email is packed with important updates and information regarding this year’s Virtual ThesCon. Due to the format of this year’s conference we are able to offer many events to Junior Thespians for the first time. Please see the information below about these events and how to get your students involved. 


Conference and Event Registration and Cost

The registration fee is $50 per attendee and is open to Junior Thespians and Non-Junior Thespians. Conference Registration opens October 4, 2020 and closes December 11, 2020.

Thespys (formally known as IEs)

Individual Events has a new name and some new exciting changes! IEs will now be called Thespys to correspond with the EdTA National level qualifiers. At the Georgia Virtual ThesCon 2021, all IEs/Thespys (both performance and tech) can have UNLIMITED digital entries per troupe this year! We will be using the Open Water platform, which is the same as the National Thespys at the International Thespian Festival. Please join Jordan Hughes for a Q and A and breakout session at LeadCon 1 on Saturday, 9/26/20 and look for more details coming soon!

Conference Grants

6 Conference Grants will be available for middle school students this year. Applications can be found here. The deadline is September 26, 2020.

Shows and Screening

We are so excited that this year we can showcase more than one school for a conference show. If you have a show you would like screened (past show or present) please share it with us! All shows will be submitted and adjudicated electronically. The application & fee must be submitted/received by the December 11, 2020 Super Deadline. Performance videos must be submitted/received no later than January 17, 2021.  Troupes must secure written permission from the publisher for presentation at the conference during conference dates. Troupes are responsible for payment of royalties and adhering to the policies in their Production Contract with the publishing company. This year we have the opportunity to offer exciting new events to our Junior Thespians. These are events that are usually only offered at the High School Conference but due to the format of the conference this year we can open these events to our Junior Troupes. Opening Number

We are excited to showcase Junior Troupes from around GA with the opportunity to perform in opening number virtually this year.  If you are interested in participating, the cost will be $25.00 and registration will open on October 4, 2020 and close October 31, 2020. Troupes interested will pick a song from the JSTO created list, rehearse the piece, film it, edit it, and submit it to natalie.pass@gathespians.org by January 17th.

LeadCon

LeadCons, short for Leadership Conference, are mini-conferences that will be held via Zoom this school year. We will have tons of information, Q & A sessions, and sessions with event coordinators for many elements of our conference during LeadCon. Make sure you mark your calendar to attend and be on the lookout for a more detailed schedule and how to join us.
